Tantrika is a flagship annual extravaganza of National Brain Research Centre. Spanning two weeks, this student-organised annual fiesta includes a wide range of events and performances including arts, dramatics, song, dance and literature, along with a number of workshops on different themes. It is traditionally hosted by the second year PhD students as a token of welcome for the first year batch. The fest offers an unparalleled platform to stage talent, creativity and sportsmanship. Tantrika also hosts acadaemic events, with plenary sessions as well as an annual keynote address from amongst prominent scientists. It aims at fostering camaraderie and friendship amongst the newcomers and reinvigorating the minds of the NBRC community from the mundaneness of everyday life.
Tantrika is everything a fest ought to be, and more. It is a tradition. It is a celebration. It is an experience. One you do not want to miss out on!
"Science seldom proceeds in the straightforward logical manner imagined by outsiders. Instead, its steps forward (and sometimes backward) are very human events in which personalities and cultural events play major roles" – James Watson

Tantrika 2017: Just like action potentials.... all or none
Tantrika 2017 brought a new amalgam of scientific and cultural extravaganza. It began on a grand note by catering to taste buds of NBRCians with a fun filled food fest along with games for children. With eminent scientists like Dr Gagandeep Kang (keynote speaker), Dr Alok Bhattacharya, Dr Sushil Jha and Dr Soumen Basak giving the academic talks for two days, the Academic day also had poster presentation from various labs of NBRC. To keep up with the rich tradition of sporting events at NBRC, we had badminton, table tennis, short cricket, volleyball, football and kho-kho tournaments. We also had a live band performance by Sufi-cum-Light music band Dosh. Other events included antakshari, a general quiz, treasure hunt and poster making ending on a high note with a grand cultural night. The magic of Tantrika in NBRC was recreated this year too with much grandeur and enthusiasm. Let the spirit of celebration continue to welcome another batch next year with another Tantrika.
