The mandate of National Brain Research Centre (NBRC) is to:
- Pursue research to understand brain function in health and diseases.
- Generate trained human resources with the capability to carry out interdisciplinary research in neuroscience.
- Promote neuroscience in India through networking among institutions across the country.
Vision
With a vision to grow itself into a world-class institute for brain research, NBRC is keen in creating a vibrant & active neuroscience community by catalyzing the overall growth of this discipline across the country. The expected benefit from this initiative would help India achieve an international leadership in this frontier. The initiative would support Indian neuroscientists to participate in global research efforts as equal partners. The knowledge base generated from these efforts would advance diagnostic tools & therapeutic strategies for treatment of brain-related disorders. NBRC through such crucial efforts is looking forward to act as "hub of the wheel" in connecting other centres for carrying out neuroscience research across India rather than the wheel itself.
