Research

Our group investigates how deregulated metabolism modulates epigenetic landscape to affect genes associated with survival responses in glioblastoma- the most malignant of brain tumors. Using multipronged approaches (epigenetics, biochemistry, and cell biology), we endeavour to understand how distinct metabolic-epigenetic landscape in gliomas harboring different molecular signatures influences tumor progression. As mutations in metabolic genes can alter the metabolic milieu to affect chromatin state and vice versa, our focus is to understand how epigenetic landscape in gliomas harboring mutation in metabolic gene isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH1) influence chemoresistance and immune surveillance.
