If you are enthusiastic about a career in brain research, do consider joining our PhD programme. The PhD degree (Biotechnology) will be awarded by RCB.
Given the fact that modern-day neuroscience is highly interdisciplinary in nature and relies on a spectrum of techniques spanning different disciplines, students from diverse academic backgrounds are encouraged to join BRIC-NBRC and excel in neuroscience research.
Our Ph.D. students come from vastly different backgrounds, such as Life Sciences / Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics / Computer Science / Psychology, and Medical Science.
If you fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria , you can appear for one of the many different examinations to qualify for the Ph.D. admission interview.

To gain an all-round perspective of neuroscience, selected candidates will undergo 6 months of coursework, where they will learn from molecular to computational neuroscience.

You will also get an opportunity a brief exposure in various labs to get a closer look at how research is conducted, and decide what excites you the most.

All admitted candidates must avail Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) for first two years from CSIR/UGC/ICMR/DBT/DST/NHBM or any other fellowship and afterwards will be eligible for Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) as per the rules of respective funding agencies.
* The total tenure of JRF and SRF cannot exceed 5 years.

Qualify one of the examinations mentioned above. The Junior Research Fellowship should be valid to be activated till January 2027.
UGC-JRF candidates should have qualified the exam on/after June 2024.

BRIC-NBRC prefers online applications. If you are unable or unwilling to apply online, you can apply offline.
Candidates who wish to apply by the offline mode need to obtain the application form from BRIC-NBRC. In order to obtain the application form, please send a self-addressed A-4 size envelope to BRIC-NBRC.
Last date for receipt of (Online/Offline) application form at BRIC NBRC is: 4th May 2026.
